Who is the Prince William County (PWC) Panthers Track Club?
Who is the Prince William County (PWC) Panthers Track Club?
PWC Panthers is a non-profit organization (501c)(3) offering a track and field program for youth boys and girls. PWC Panthers has been in existence since 2009 and is affiliated with USA Track & Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) organizations.

When does the PWC Panthers track season begin and end?
When does the PWC Panthers track season begin and end?
Indoor Season:
Registration opens in late December. Practice begins in early January and ends in late February. A determination of the team's participation in track meet competitions will be made during the season.

Outdoor Season:
Registration opens in early February. Practice begins in early March and ends in late July. Track meet competitions occur from April thru July and conclude with the AAU or USATF Junior Olympic Games in late July.

If for any reason, an athlete wishes to withdraw from the PWC Panthers Track Club, the athlete or parent must contact the Club President or Head Coach to inform them of their request to withdraw from the team. If the athlete's withdrawal date occurs before the first day of practice, all fees will be refunded less the club administrative fee. If the withdrawal date occurs on or after the first day of practice, all fees are non-refundable. If the withdrawal date occurs after the uniform orders have been placed, you will receive the ordered uniform.

There will be no refunds for athletes removed due to disciplinary action.

What is the Travel Policy?
What is the Travel Policy?
Each year the club will plan out the track meet schedule that will consist of local and out-of-town competitions. Parents are responsible for their child & transportation to all competitions during the season.

Travel to out-of-town meets consists of additional cost not included in the membership fee.
Parents are responsible for securing hotel reservations, transportation and all accommodations associated with travel expenses. In an effort of having members stay at the same locations, the Club will book a safe and clean hotel and will block rooms for a specific period of time to assist parents with travel accommodations. Parents who do not desire to stay at the Clubs selected hotel are welcome to select hotels of their choice.

Do I have to buy a PWC uniform?
Do I have to buy a PWC uniform?
Yes, the PWC Panthers uniform is required to participate in scheduled track meets.  The uniform will consist of a jogging suit, sweat resistant t-shirt and speed suit.  All items are branded in PWC Panthers team colors and logos which allows fans to show their support and loyalty to a sports team and players show their dedication to each other.

What ages may participate with the PWC Panthers?
What ages may participate with the PWC Panthers?
The minimum age for PWC Panthers athletes is seven (7) years old. Therefore, the maximum year of birth for athletes during the 2024 season is 2017.

The maximum age for PWC Panthers athletes is eighteen (18) years old. Athletes MUST NOT turn 19 before the final day of the National Championship Competition.

How much does it cost to participate?
PWC Panthers membership fee is examined each season due to numerous factors such as changes in Meet fees, uniforms and organizational needs. Membership fee ranges from $150 -$500. The fee will include uniforms, scheduled invitational meet fees, AAU/USATF membership, club administration, field usage, etc. for the season. The fee may vary for athletes based on if they are a new member or a returning member to the club; elementary, middle or high school student; and if the athlete must purchase the mandatory uniform apparel.

Membership fee does not include track spikes, running shoes, travel expenses or expenses affiliated with qualifiers or the Junior Olympic Championships.

We do extend a family discount for families with more than one (1) athlete from the same immediate family.

PWC Panthers registration process consists of establishing member accounts for the athlete and his/her parents, and paying the membership fee. For details of the entire registration process, visit our homepage; click the Registration Process icon in the Resources section.

What track meets do PWC Panthers participate in?
What track meets do PWC Panthers participate in?
PWC Panthers track meet schedule consists of invitational, district and national meets and the Junior Olympic Games. Meets are typically located in Northern Virginia, Central Virginia and the Tidewater Area.

How are athletes' events chosen for each track meet?
How are athletes' events chosen for each track meet?
Coaches will select the events in which each athlete will participate.  No athlete is “guaranteed” to participate in a particular event at every meet.  Event selections for athletes will be based upon the recommendations of the coaching staff based upon observations and progression made during practices.  Coaches will ensure that athletes are exposed to a variety of events.

Indoor Season:
All PWC Panthers indoor practices are held in the gymnasium at Graham Park Middle School located at 3613 Graham Park Road, Triangle, VA. Practice begins in early January and ends in late February. Practices are held from 6:30 PM - 8 PM. See the Events Calendar on our homepage for the practice schedule. Athletes MUST arrive on time and ready to workout.

Outdoor Season:
All PWC Panthers outdoor practices are held at Colgan Senior High School located at 13833 Dumfries Road, Manassas, VA. The track is located in the rear of the school. Practice begins in early March and ends in late July. Practices are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PMAthletes MUST arrive on time and ready to workout.

What is the proper attire for practice?
What is the proper attire for practice?
Practice attire must be appropriate in appearance and conducive to the training. Sweat pants and jacket are to be worn upon arrival to practice and should remain on during warm-up laps and drills, unless otherwise instructed by the Head Coach or coaching staff to discard these items.
Athletes are also required to bring the following items to practice:
     • Water Bottle
     • Running shoes (NO BASKETBALL SHOES)
     • Shorts & T-shirts (may be worn under sweat suit)

Is there practice when the weather is bad?
Is there practice when the weather is bad?
Practice is rarely cancelled for inclement weather.  If practice is cancelled, parents will receive an alert (Refer to Communication section of Club Handbook) up to 1 ½ hours prior to practice and a message will be posted on the home page of our website.  If practice is cancelled for the day, normal practice will resume on the next scheduled day unless otherwise noted/communicated.

Are practices mandatory?
Are practices mandatory?

All practices are MANDATORY, unless approval for absence is granted (Refer to Training Schedule section of Club Handbook). It is the athlete’s responsibility to check in with the Team Manager(s) for attendance prior to entering the track.

In order to be excused from club activities, the athlete must have been absent due to school activities, illness, family emergency, religious observation, or have approval for the absence prior to the club activity.
